[Back to ENV200Y | Lectures+]

What is Lectures +?

Lectures + is exactly what its name implies. It is "extra" material that is related to lecture or tutorial (including the .pdf and .doc versions of the slides I used in lecture).

Students often ask if they have to "know the material" in Lectures +. This is a more difficult question than it first appears to be. (Why don't I just say yes!) You have already seen some of the material in class. Other material (such as the link to the weather from Environment Canada) is not central to the course, but we do talk about the jet stream and its influence on our weather! In general our lecture notes, reading assignments or tutorial topics are probably more "important" than the other material in Lectures +. However, I believe purusing the information that will appear here from time to time will help educate you around environmenal issuses with direct and indirect relevance to the course, thus helping you "test" whether you really understand and can apply the knowledge you are acquiring in lecture, tutorial and through your readings.

Can you pass ENV200Y without reading these postings? Of course! But, I hope you do use the material in Lectures +. I put it here to enhance the learning climate of ENV200Y. Let me know if it accomplishes that purpose.

If you have questions about any aspect of the material in Lectures +, please do not hesitate to ask me (either in person or via email).
